Foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) is an acute, hot and highly contagious disease caused by foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV) in cloven hoofed animals. Cattle, buff alo, pig, camel, deer and sheep are the most susceptible animals, as well as wild animals such as yellow sheep, musk deer, boar and bison. World Organization for Animal Health (also known as OIE) classifi ed it as one of class A animal infectious disease, and China classifi ed it as one of class I animal epidemic disease. This paper summarizes and expounds the prevention and control measures of footand-mouth disease from its characteristics, epidemiology, clinical characteristics and pathological changes. |
